December 5, 2024 4 minute read Last updated December 6, 2024

The second edition of the World Series of Poker Paradise (WSOPP) kicks off later today in the Bahamas, with the $2,500 WSOP Mini Main Event kicking off the festivities.

This mini-main event is the first of 15 bracelet events to be held at Atlantis Paradise Island, and PokerNews will be on-site with live coverage and the latest news from one of December's big three. Our award-winning live updates begin on December 7th leading up to the 2024 WSOPP. The highly anticipated Triton Million is the first event we are preparing for in earnest.

This unique event pairs “elite invitees” with the world's top professional poker players and requires each pair to pony up $1 million ($500,000 each) to get a seat at the table.

The biggest buy-in event of the series also marks the debut of Triton Poker under the WSOP umbrella. But this won't be the only “first” to take place at the 2024 WSOPP, as Triton Million will also see fan favorite Daniel Negreanu compete in a Triton event for the first time.

Despite never playing under the bright lights of the Tritons, Negreanu will face some familiar foes. Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, and Jason Koon have all been confirmed, a trio of great poker names who have battled with Negreanu countless times over the years.

Who invited Negreanu to Triton Million?

Antonius and Ivy's attendance was revealed in the first wave of pairings announced by Triton Poker and invited by Ossi Ketola and Paul Pua respectively. Antonius, the latest inductee into the Poker Hall of Fame at the 2024 WSOP, won the $200,000 Triton Invitational last month by defeating Vladimir “Gamble Doll” Korzhinin in heads-up play for $5.1 million. Coincidentally, a few days later, Gambledore defeated Antonius' partner Ketola in the finals of the $150,000 Triton tournament.

Korzhinin's show in Monte Carlo in November attracted many fans, but unfortunately for them, the 69-year-old Estonian has not yet been announced as a contestant for the Triton Million.

Koon, a 10-time Triton winner, was announced as a PokerStars ambassador on the PokerStars North American Poker Tour (NAPT) and was invited by entrepreneur Vinny Lingham ahead of Negreanu's announcement. So who invited Negreanu to Triton Million?

The answer to that question is Ryan Feldman, co-founder of Hustler Casino Live. If you're not familiar with this name, check out PokerNews.

Feldman began his career as a sportswriter and worked for ESPN for several years. He eventually left ESPN to pursue professional poker and poker streaming. Feldman worked on Live at the Bike Stream in Los Angeles before leaving to start HCL with recently fired Nick Bertucci.

KidPoker's partner was a guest on PokerNews' Life Outside Poker podcast to talk about his career, poker streams, the Jack 4 controversy, getting kicked out on day three of the WSOP Main Event, and more.

How was the pairing done?

So why did Mr. Feldman invite the seven-time bracelet winner? He revealed the answer in an interview with Poker.Org, saying:

“When I realized that Daniel wanted to play in this event but didn’t have a partner, I started talking to the organization that runs this event. Daniel is a legend in the game. We thought it was a great event to play in and it was decided right away.''Everyone came together and worked on it.

“When they reached out to Daniel, the first thing he did was text me “LFG!” he was very excited. He is one of the most famous poker players in the world. ”
