TMZ reports that the incident occurred on August 25th at Caesars Palace in suburban Omnia, where Diaz, 39, and several friends were standing in the checkout line. When a nightclub bouncer approached him to ask about the problem, Diaz shoved his open right hand back into the bouncer’s face, knocking his glasses off his nose.

According to TMZ Sports, the lawsuit is currently ongoing.

This wasn’t the first time Diaz applied his mixed martial arts skills to his personal life. In April 2023, the former welterweight headliner choked out Logan Paul lookalike Rodney Peterson in a street fight in New Orleans.

Diaz was charged with second-degree assault by New Orleans police, but the local district attorney decided to drop the case, determining that Diaz acted in “100% self-defense.”

Diaz and his brother, former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz, are beloved by mixed martial arts fans for their brash fighting techniques and anti-authoritarian stance.

Nate Diaz last fought in the UFC in 2022 when he defeated Tony Ferguson in Las Vegas. Since then, he has worked as a boxer, winning a majority decision over Jorge Masvidal but losing a unanimous decision to Jake Paul.

Diaz is being discussed as a possible 2025 challenger to fellow welterweight Conor McGregor, whose last fight in the UFC took place in 2021. McGregor and Diaz’s rivalry in the UFC stands at 1 win and 1 loss.
