WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – A man was shot in the parking lot of Southland Casino in West Memphis Friday morning and later died of his injuries, police said.
FOX13 crews were told by a security officer on the scene that a shooting had taken place in the parking lot of the casino.
“Our security team immediately contacted West Memphis police after the isolated incident early this morning in the parking lot outside the casino. We are providing surveillance video and other information for their investigation,” the casino said in a statement. “The safety and security of our guests and team members is our top priority, and we have a comprehensive security program in place, including a weapons detection system at every entrance that prevents weapons from entering the casino.”
West Memphis police told FOX13 that the victim was taken to Baptist Hospital in Crittenden, where he later died of his injuries.
